Pinar del Rio occupies the third place of the country for its extension.. The relief, although mainly flat, it presents throughout the whole province to the Mountain range of Guaniguanico, which is divided naturally in Sierra del Rosario and Sierra de los Organos. The biggest elevation in this area is the Pan de Guajaibón, with 699 meters on the sea level.

Mostly of their tourist places are concentrated on the Valley of Viñales, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Cuba, this is a National Natural Monument, located in an area of 132 square kilometers of Sierra de los Organos and surrounded of impressive mountains of rounded summits.

For the interested ones in observing closely the exuberant flora and fauna exist to the long and wide of this region natural paths, there are also the systems cavernarios of Palmarito, El Indio y Santo Tomás this last one, the biggest in Antilles with near 45 kilometers, the Abra del Ancón, the Sierra del Infierno, the Hoyo de Jaruco, the Valley of the Dos Hermanas, the Hoyo de Jaruco and San Vicente's Valley, in addition to all this, there are the plantations of the best tobacco in the world, the botanical garden of Caridad and the rural community of The Acuaticos, where their inhabitants cure all the sickness with water.

In the oriental limit of the mountain range of Guaniguanico there is the Reservation of the Biosphere Sierra del Rosario, which gathers to 800 species of plants with 34 of endemismo percent and there is the presence of most of the species that inhabit the island, especially the zunzún or bird fly, famous to be the smallest bird in the orb, accompanied by the tocororo and the bird carpenter. In this area Soroa is located, cradle of the biggest orquideario in Cuba, where 750 varieties 250 of them, nationals, are waiting for the visitors to offer its colors and aromas. Soroa also offers the options of its mirador, walks for open shortcuts among the vegetation to the search of plants and animalsand to find the river Manatiales with its famous cascade and its medicinal waters, all this, complemented with the access to the ruins of French old coffee plantations

La Sierra del Rosario contains also itself the Tourist Complex Las Terrazas, with surprising landscapes, more than 800 vegetable species and 73 types of birds in a protected area where the endemic ones achieve high population indexes; in his surroundings bathrooms of thermal waters, sulfurous and natural , the springs of the river San Juan, campings areas, paths and routes are located

In the most western area of Pinar del Rio, marking the limits of the island, the Peninsula of Guanahacabibes , with the national park, named equally there is a natural reservations "ElVeral" and "Cabo Corrienets", in which are numerous caves with archaeological remains and a coralline reef under perfect conditions, suggested for the diving. In that area, the International Center of Diving María La Gorda favors the practice of the aquatic sports, where the eight kilometers of fine sand of cream color and crystalline waters of Maaria La Gorda , remind the legend of a woman called María who was Fat and she was taken rom Venezuela by some pirates, kidnapped later and abandoned in this earth piece.
